Home sales rise in Treasure Valley

April 16, 2014

As the trees awoke from winter slumbers and started budding in March, so too did the Treasure Valley housing market. Real estate agents counting on the usual bump in sales received it, with home sales in Ada County increasing 37.4 percent from February to March and Canyon County sales jumping 42.1 percent.

Sales tripled from seven to 21 in northwest Caldwell and roughly doubled in Northeast Boise and the Bench.

Sales in March improved on year-over-year numbers from 2013, suggesting another competitive buying season could mean more bidding wars like those in the Valley last summer. However, the sales numbers are increasing in part because of a healthier inventory. More houses on the market could keep prices down or at least suppress what could have been a rapid increase.
