Idaho unemployment payouts fall

April 16, 2014

The number of workers in Idaho who received weekly unemployment checks in February was the lowest since the 1990s, the state Department of Labor says. An average of 14,700 people received weekly benefits in February - about 21 percent fewer than in February 2012. Meanwhile, the state's workforce-participation rate - the share of working-age adults who either have jobs or are seeking jobs - fell a tenth of a point, to 63.7 percent, due in part to an influx of retirees. The statewide jobless rate fell to 6.7 percent, the lowest in more than 5 years.
