Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State signee named Texas player of the year

David Wacker, a 6-foot-9 senior forward from Converse (Texas) Judson High who signed with Boise State in November, was named the 5A state player of the year by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches late Sunday night.

Wacker (11.4 points per game, 9.1 rebounds per game, 3.3 blocks per game) helped lead Judson to the 5A state championship game and a 37-2 record this season.

The other player the Broncos signed in November, California wing Chandler Hutchison, was ranked No. 80 on ESPN.com's top 100 recruits list last week.

The Broncos are also expected to sign 6-10 center Kevin Allen from Pratt (Kan.) Community College on Wednesday.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Coyotes have signed transfers Kelsey Kramer (Western New Mexico, Parma High) and Jasmine Branch (College of Southern Idaho) and incoming freshman Kilee Lopez (Vallivue High).

C OF I WOMEN'S SOCCER: Four players are joining the team - forward Erika Thompson (Centennial High), forward Ellie Packham (Twin Falls), midfielders Sabrina Mallett (Las Vegas) and midfielder Erika Scheibe (Rocky Mountain High).

NORTHWEST NAZARENE MEN'S SOCCER: The Crusaders have added six new players to their roster - defender Eric Franco (Nampa High), goalkeeper Jack Richelieu (Mountain Home High), midfielder Kirk Gartrell (Yakima, Wash.), midfielder Julio Castillo (Arizona Western College), defender/midfielder Nathan Murphy (Northwest University) and defender Stephen Davidson (Skyview High, last played with NNU in 2010).
