The Myrtle Street Garage at Capitol Boulevard will switch to a new automated payment system on Monday.
That leaves only the Boulevard Garage beneath the Grove Hotel on Capitol Boulevard with the historical payment setup using cash attendants. That garage is scheduled to convert to pay by machine by the end of the month.
Previously, the Capital City Development Corp., Boise's urban renewal agency, installed automated payment kiosks in the Capitol Terrace, Eastman, Grove Street and City Centre garages.
Instead of paying a person on the way out of the garage, a parking customer takes a parking slip to a machine at the bottom of the garage's elevators.
The customer pays at the machine and gets a receipt. On the way out of the garage, drivers place the receipt into a machine that lets them leave.
Parking attendants have been on hand at the garages with payment machines to help parking customers get used to the new system.
Having the machines will allow the garages to remain open 24 hours per day.
The first hour of parking in all downtown garages remains free.
