By not adding four words to its human rights law, Idaho - that is, the Republican Party - takes a stand in opposition to the following organizations, which support LBGT rights. It's a partial list: American Academy of Nursing; American Academy of Pediatrics; AARP; American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; American Medical Association; American Psychiatric Association; National Association of Social Workers; National Association of the Deaf; and National Fire Protection Association.
The companies supporting marriage equality include: Apple, Starbucks, Google, Facebook, eBay, Nike, Gap, Ben & Jerry's, Banana Republic, Levi Strauss, Microsoft, JetBlue, MasterCard, AT&T, Instagram, Johnson & Johnson, UBS, Citi, Orbitz, Cisco, Goldman Sachs, Marriott International, Moody's and Expedia.
Idaho is controlled by a party with one idea: taxes are bad, despite the fact that taxes paid for the defeat of fascism and the interest on the war bonds; built the TVA, the BPA, the interstate highways; and put a man on the moon. The Legislature cut taxes again, although their previous cuts only made the rich richer, damaged education, and further degraded our neglected infrastructure. In other developments, the Legislature allowed guns on campuses and continues to institutionalize discrimination against certain citizens.
