Ada County says Greenbelt repair will be done by Friday

This map provided by Ada County shows the section of Greenbelt closed for repairs this week.

Closure of a Southeast Boise section of Greenbelt for repairs this week has apparently riled some area residents, and a county spokeswoman advised that the work will be done before next weekend begins.

The closure between the Diversion Dam and North Shakespeare Way was announced last Friday and began Monday. On Tuesday, spokeswoman Jessica Donald sent the announcement news release to the media again, with this update:

“We’d like to let people know that Ada County understands and apologizes for any inconvenience during this week’s closure," Donald wrote. "The emergency Greenbelt repair work to address safety concerns is going as scheduled, and is expected to be completed no later than Friday, April 11, just in time for public enjoyment over the upcoming weekend.”

Crews will patch worn and eroded areas of Greenbelt on that stretch of the pathway, part of which runs along the Penitentiary Canal. During the closure, an alternate bike lane route is available along Highway 21 and Warm Springs Blvd.
