Rio Grande Valley pulls away for win over Stampede


HIDALGO, Texas — The Vipers outscored the Stampede 37-24 in the fourth quarter of a 121-110 win Friday.

Kevin Murphy scored a game-high 35 points to lead Idaho, and Derrick Caracter had 17 points and 18 rebounds. Scott Machado also chipped in a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

After a back-and-fourth first half, the score was tied three times in the third period. Heading into the final frame, Idaho led 86-84.

The Stampede (24-25) will conclude their season Saturday night at the Texas Legends.
