Jan English.

Jan English joined the staff of The Cabin - then the Log Cabin Literary Center - in 1998, just three years after the nonprofit opened.

Staffers at The Cabin say that English, who will leave her post as operations manager at the end of April, was a key player in the growth of the organization.

English gathered many fans during her 13 years with The Cabin. They include Cort Conley, an Idaho writer and director of literature at the Idaho Commission on the Arts.

"It is difficult to envision a Cabin without the soft-spoken voice and pixyish smile of Ms. English, along with her cherished qualities, among them helpfulness, quiet competence and droll humor," said Conley.

English is an Honorary Lifetime Member of The Cabin. The organization also recognized her with a Distinguished Service Award.
