SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The 19th-ranked Broncos lost just one match Sunday and beat Cal Poly 6-1 in a non-conference dual. Andy Bettles had an easy day when his opponent retired after one game due to injury, but Thomas Tenreiro and Toby Mitchell earned three-set victories for Boise State (18-3). The only loss came from freshman Brendan McClain (21-7), who had his 11-match win streak snapped. BSU visits Stanford on Tuesday.
BSU WOMEN'S TENNIS: The Broncos (10-8, 3-2 MW) swept the singles matches in a 6-1 victory over Air Force (14-6, 1-1) in Boise. Anissa Bryant-Swift and Teal Vosburgh won singles and doubles matches for BSU.
BSU SOFTBALL: The Broncos (17-16, 2-4) lost 12-4 to Colorado State (18-9, 3-3) in Fort Collins, Colo., completing a Mountain West sweep. MacKenzie Whyte homered for the Broncos.
COLLEGE OF IDAHO MEN'S BASKETBALL: Scott Garson is one of 12 finalists for the Don Meyer Award, presented to the top NAIA men's basketball coach. Garson led the Coyotes to a sweep of the Cascade Conference regular-season and tournament titles, as well as a No. 2 seed in the Division II national tournament.
C OF I BASEBALL: Taylor Nicholson (Emmett High) threw a seven-hit shutout in the opener, and the Coyotes (17-13, 8-6 NAIA West) swept Simpson 3-0, 6-4 in a doubleheader in Caldwell.
C OF I SOFTBALL: Nickayla Skinner (Mountain Home High) had 12 strikeouts in the opener for the 22nd-ranked Coyotes (15-9, 7-5 Cascade Conference) in a 5-1 victory over Corban (16-12, 3-7) to open a doubleheader in Caldwell. Corban won the second game 11-10.
