Letter: Prejudices

March 30, 2014

I have empathy for people like William R. Place, who choose to hide behind God and do not have enough courage to admit and face their own prejudices, biases and bigotries. These individuals would rather use God as a whipping post than extend their hand in peace and love.

How sad is this? There will never be peace until we all deal with our internal battles. Please leave God out of justifying poor behavior, injustice, and forcing one's own biases upon another. Every individual has the right to "all freedoms" regardless.

Jesus, as the Prince of Peace, attempted to teach us mere mortals the meaning of love, not the continuation of hatred. It is time to stop using God, the Bible and the Constitution out of context.
