ECHL: Idaho Steelheads improve to 2-0 on three-game Stockton road trip

STOCKTON, Calif. - Justin Mercier and Tommy Grant scored late in the first period, and Jason Bast added two special-teams goal to give Idaho a 4-1 victory Friday night.

Grant's 21st goal of the season came on the power play for the Steelheads (35-25-7), who received 21 saves from goaltender Josh Robinson. Bast assisted Mercier's opening score and tacked on a power-play goal in the second period and a short-handed goal in the third. Mercier set up Bast twice, and Luke Judson also had two assists.

The Steelheads and Thunder (29-28-6) play again Sunday.
