Deadline to apply for Ada County property tax exemption is April 15

March 28, 2014

The Ada County commissioners are reminding residents and organizations that the deadline to file for exemption from 2014 property tax is April 15, 2014.

Idaho Code § 63-6 outlines that certain properties may be exempt from taxation, such as those owned by non-profit organizations. Organizations or property owners requesting a property tax exemption are required to re-apply each year. Applications must be submitted to the Ada County Commissioners’ Office no later than April 15, and no late applications will be accepted. (Note: Exemption from property tax is not the same thing as a Homeowner's Exemption. For details about property tax reduction and deferral programs, including Homeowner's Exemption, visit the Ada County website.

For more information or to download an exemption application, visit the commissioners' website at and click on the “Property Tax Exemptions & Appeals” link. For questions regarding property tax exemption applications, contact the commissioners’ office at 287-7000.
