Ada County Pet of the Week: Shasta the hound mix

March 25, 2014

Shasta, 6, is a spayed female, black, red and white, Hound mix. When offered a treat, Shasta will sit immediately and take it very gently.

Like most hound dogs, she loves to explore her environment with her nose. Due to their tendency to follow their noses and become lost, hounds do best in a home with a securely fenced yard. Shasta will thrive where she can spend a lot of time with her human "pack."

Though she has a medium energy level and a gentle nature, Shasta would still make a great hiking, camping or other outdoor activity partner. She's likely to make a great family companion.

Shasta can be found in kennel 421 (#12390312) at the Idaho Humane Society at 4775 Dorman St. in Boise. The shelter is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
