New flight at Boise Airport has domino effect

March 19, 2014

When Alaska Airlines said in December that it would start flying between Boise and Salt Lake City, "fares dropped just with the announcement," says Boise Airport spokeswoman Patti Miller. That Salt Lake City service won't even start until June, but it means competition for Delta Air Lines, Miller says. The airport added nonstop flights to San Diego in November as well. She thinks new flight offerings and their effect on fares and ease of connections, combined with an improving economy, may be why passenger flights rose in January.
