Johnny Baseball?:

The sports media seems enthralled, enamored and transfixed with Johnny Manziel.

When the NFL holds its scouting combine (tryout), the players run the 40-yard dash in shorts. When Major League Baseball teams hold tryouts, the players run the 60-yard dash in uniform. (I have no idea how or why either sport picked those distances.)

At the NFL combine, Manziel ran an official 4.68 40-yard dash. (Obviously, this would be slower in uniform.) This translates into a 7.02 60-yard dash.

With his size and build, in baseball he would be a middle infielder or center fielder. The 7.02 time is well below average.

Unless he would be projected as a 25 home runs a year hitter, he wouldn't make it to the second day.
