Third-period explosion lifts Idaho Steelheads past Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Jason Bast scored a goal and added two assists in the third period as the Steelheads erupted for four third-period goals to knock off the Condors 4-2 on Saturday night. Kevin Kapalka turned aside 25-of-27 shots in his professional debut for Idaho (32-23-7), which ends its four-game, five-night California road trip at Ontario on Sunday.

• Forward Justin Mercier returned to the Steelheads from the American Hockey League and scored a goal in the third period.
