Erick Mendez Heredia

Boise police announced Tuesday that Erick Mendez Heredia, 38, of Boise is the eighth person BPD narcotics detectives have arrested so far this year in connection with a suspected major drug trafficking organization.

Heredia, who was arrested Monday and remained in the Ada County Jail on Tuesday, faces a felony charge of trafficking methamphetamine.

Police say their investigation yielded seven arrests in January and seizure of more than 12 pounds of meth brought into Idaho from Southern California.

Heredia's arrest follows an investigation by members of BANDIT (Boise Area Narcotics and Drug Interdiction Task Force), which includes Boise police as well as agents the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Idaho National Guard.
