Boise State women's basketball falls in Mountain West Tournament

The Boise State women's basketball team trailed Wyoming by as much as 10 with less than three minutes to play and cut it down to two with a chance to tie, but the Broncos were unable to get ahead of the Cowgirls, losing 61-56 in the Mountain West Tournament quarterfinals Tuesday.

Deanna Weaver had 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Broncos (17-13), who scored eight straight points after Wyoming led 58-48 with 2:55 to play. Freshman Yaiza Rodriguez hit a 3-pointer off a steal with 1:20 left to cut it to 58-56, and Weaver attempted a tying layup with 32 seconds left, but just missed.

The Cowgirls (20-10) had 16 offensive rebounds to the Broncos' five. Marquelle Dent had 23 points for Wyoming. Boise State was 3-of-15 on 3-pointers in the loss. In the Broncos' previous meeting with Wyoming, a March 1 win in Boise, they hit 11 3-pointers.
