Fulcher asks Idaho voters to 'come home,' re-register as Republicans by Friday

March 11, 2014

Repeating last week's entreaty to win support from non-Republicans, Senate Majority Caucus Chairman Russ Fulcher is making a final push to re-register those "registered as Constitutional, Libertarians, and even Democrats" to vote in the Idaho GOP's May 20 closed primary.

The five-term Republican is openly courting non-Republicans to help him unseat two-term GOP Gov. Butch Otter. Otter has expressed concern that some voters will stay away out of reluctance to declare themselves as Republicans. Fulcher supported the closed primary when the party instituted it in 2012; Otter opposed it.

In an email Monday afternoon, Fulcher reminds his mailing list that the deadline to re-register with county clerks and qualify for the primary is Friday. He asks recipients to click a sharing link to "help me get the word out to our like-minded friends by sharing this information with them."

Fulcher also provides links to the affiliation form where voters may affirm their allegiance to the GOP and contact information for clerks in Idaho's 44 counties.
