Don't forget to vote today on six Treasure Valley school district levies

March 11, 2014

Race to watch? Nampa School District, the only district seeking a property tax increase as it comes out of two years of financial turmoil.

Biggest levy? Meridian School District. It's seeking $14 million a year for two years, but increases in new construction in the district mean the rate for continuing the levy could actually drop about $8 to $107 in a home with a taxable value of $100,000.

Why do they need the money? Even though the state is proposing more money for school districts, many haven't climbed out of the hole created by the recession.

What other districts have votes Tuesday? Kuna, Vallivue, Caldwell and Middleton.

When to vote? 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Be sure to bring a valid picture ID, such as a driver's license.

Where to vote? Your regular voting place. Check Ada County or Canyon County election websites if you're not sure.
