Half-inch hail pummeled much of the Treasure Valley Monday evening, adding drama to a thunderstorm moving through the area.
The storm formed just north of Weiser and skirted Canyon County, moving along the Foothills in Eagle and North Boise, National Weather Service meteorologist Korri Anderson said. Hail was reported in the Emmett area around 6 and by 6:45 p.m. was pelting much of Boise, Anderson said. The storm then headed toward Mountain Home, prompting warnings of ice on Interstate 84.
The icy storm was likely a contributing factor for several accidents. By 8 p.m. Idaho State Police was handling two crashes and a slide-off east of Boise on I-84, but none appeared to involve serious injuries, a dispatcher said.
