Buhl survived a triple OT opener to advance to the semifinals, defeating Sugar-Salem 57-52. The lead changed eight times, and the score was tied six times. Kade Crossland led the Indians with 25 points. Buhl will face Kellogg at 6:15 p.m. Friday at Meridian High. Kellogg advanced with a 55-37 win over Parma. The Wildcats never trailed and led by as many as 22 points. Jesse Lambert and Tucker Gust scored 14 points apiece for Kellogg. Gust also chipped in 10 rebounds. Tanner Kramer scored 18 points to pace Parma.

Homedale beat Shelley 53-38. Trey Lane scored 13 points, and Caleb Oviedo chipped in 11. The Trojans will face Filer at 8 p.m. at Meridian High in the semifinals. Filer defeated defending champion Snake River 55-37. Homedale is seeking its first state title since 1969.

2A

Soda Springs outlasted North Fremont 51-46 to earn a semifinal spot. The Eagles were led by Hunter Goodenough’s 10 points. Soda Springs, which last won a state title in 1991, will meet Declo at 6:15 p.m. at Capital High. Declo, looking for its first state title since 1998, moved on after a 57-39 victory over North Star. Hayden Hanson scored 14 points for the Hornets, while Conner Drollinger recorded 11 for North Star.

In the other semifinal, Firth and defending champion Grangeville will face off at 8 p.m. Firth, which won four straight titles from 2007 to 2010, beat Melba 59-37. Grangeville upended 77-65

1A DIVISION I

Prairie rolled into the semifinals with an 82-50 victory over Glenns Ferry. Lucas Arnzen led the charge with 18 points and nine rebounds. Prairie, the 2010 state champion, will take on Genesee at 6:15 p.m. Friday at Vallivue High. Genesee, the 2009 champion, topped Notus 39-24. Reggie Tilleman had 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs. Nick Morgan led Notus with 24 points. Lapwai rallied to upset Butte County 45-42 and earn a spot in the semifinals against Challis at 8 p.m. at Vallivue. Challis beat Liberty Charter 61-53.

1A DIVISION II

In its state debut, The Ambrose School eked out a 65-63 OT victory against Dietrich. Travis Yenor led the Archers with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Jaxon Hughes chipped in 19 points. Ambrose will play Summit at 1:15 p.m. Friday at Caldwell High. Summit defeated Rockland 56-40 behind 22 points from Michael Waters.

Defending champion Salmon River rolled past Carey 65-45 behind 27 points and 10 rebounds from Leighton Vander Esch. The Savages will face Kendrick in the semifinals at 3 p.m. Kendrick beat Cascade 47-36.
