Former Ore-Ida executive, Idaho lawmaker dies

F. Edward Osborne, a longtime Boise resident, served in the Idaho House and Senate after retiring from Ore-Ida Foods.

He died Monday at home. Born in 1925 in Oil City, Penn., he served in the Navy during World War II and graduated from the Wharton School of Business in 1946. He served as a finance officer for H.J. Heinz and its subsidiary, Ore-Idaho Foods, for more than 40 years.

He moved to Boise as an Ore-Ida executive in 1968 and retired in 1988. He served on the national Holy Cross Health Care system board and on many local boards including the YMCA, the College of Idaho, the Idaho Episcopal Foundation, Saint Alphonsus and Idaho Blue Cross. He served in Idaho’s House in 1989 and 90 and in the state Senate in 1991 and 92.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the All Saints Episcopal Church, followed by a celebration at Hillcrest Country Club.
