Letter: Myths

March 6, 2014

Political myths:

Myth #1 — Democrats love everyone and want the government to help them. (This must be true because the Democrats say it.) Truth — Democrats want to get re-elected and will promise anything.

Myth #2 — Republicans hate everyone and don’t care about helping them. (This must be true because Democrats say it.) Truth — Republicans want to get re-elected and want people to take responsibility for their actions.

Myth #3 — Libertarians are anarchists. (This must be true because Democrats say it.) Truth — Libertarians want to get elected and want the government out of people’s lives.

Myth #4 — Bipartisanship will solve the country’s problems. (This must be true because Democrats say it.) Truth — Bipartisanship created the national debt.

Myth #5 — The amount of national debt doesn’t matter. (This must be true because Democrats say it.) Truth — The tea party is trying to tell the public the national debt will eventually bankrupt the U.S., but who’s listening?

Myth #6 — The U.S. is divided because of Republicans. (This must be true because Democrats say it.) Truth — Myth Truth #1 vs. Myth Truth #5.
