Grab a rod, wet a line, catch a trout




Idaho Fish and Game's Nampa Hatchery will release more than 11,000 catchable-sized rainbow trout at the following locations during March.

• Boise River above Glenwood Bridge, March 17, 500.

• Boise River below Glenwood Bridge, March 17, 500.

• Eagle Island Park Pond, March 10, 450.

• Indian Creek (Caldwell), March 10, 200.

• Indian Creek (Kuna), March 10, 300.

• Kleiner Pond (Meridian), March 10, 900.

• Marsing Pond, March 3, 31, 450 each day.

• Mill Pond (Horseshoe Bend), March 18, 450.

• McDevitt Pond (Boise), March 17, 450.

• Merrill Pond (Eagle), March 10, 250.

• Payette River (Plaza Bridge), March 17, 500.

• Payette River Pond, March 17, 400.

• Quinns Pond (Boise), March 10, 500.

• Riverside Pond (Boise), March 17, 250.

• Sego Prairie Pond at Nicholson Park (Kuna) March 10, 200.

• Settlers Pond (Meridian), March 10, 250.

• Veterans Pond (Boise), March 10, 450.

• Weiser Community Pond, March 17, 500.

• Williams Pond (Boise), March 10, 450.

The number of trout released may be altered by weather, water conditions, equipment problems or schedule changes. If delays occur, trout will be stocked when conditions become favorable.

Fish and Game will also kick off its Free Fishing Trailer schedule from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Williams Pond in Boise.

The trailer gives people a chance to fish for free with all tackle and bait provided, as well as expert advice on how to catch fish from Fish and Game staffers. The idea is to teach kids and adults the basics of fishing so they can buy a license and feel confident going out on their own.
