SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley, Wash., police say neighbors grew suspicious when they rarely saw the new renters down the street, noticed most of the house's windows were blacked out and that air conditioners ran constantly, even in cold weather.
Detectives learned the residents were using an abnormally large amount of electricity and a search warrant yielded 273 marijuana plants this week.
The Spokesman-Review (http://is.gd/YKeNda ) says 21-year-old Cole Brown, who was arrested for investigation of manufacturing a controlled substance, was released Wednesday on his own recognizance.
Spokane County sheriff's Deputy Craig Chamberlin says detectives also noticed that all the vehicles visiting the house carried Idaho plates. He says Spokane Valley officers hope to dissuade Idaho marijuana growers from setting up operations across the border in Washington.
Additional arrests are expected.
