Opponents of Idaho's guns-on-campus bill will hold a rally on the Capitol steps at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Coalition to Keep Guns Off Campus, made up of college students student associations, professors, parents and community members, opposes the legislation that would allow concealed weapons on Idaho college campuses.

"There isn’t one major stakeholder in Idaho who supports (the bill)," said Bryan Vlok, Boise State University student body president and an organizer of the event. "From the Idaho State Board of Education to the Idaho Chiefs of Police Association, Idahoans have made it clear they don’t want this bill passed.”

The bill passed the Senate 25-10 earlier this month. A hearing in the House State Affairs Committee is planned for 8 a.m. Friday in EW 40.

Students will present a petition with 2,500 signatures of Idahoans opposing the bill at the hearing.
