Mendoza, Argentina (SportsNetwork.com) - Gonzalo Castellani netted a hat trick at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas on Monday to put Godoy Cruz atop Argentina's first division with a 3-0 defeat of Rosario Central.
The match was scoreless until the 43rd minute when Castellani broke through for the opener.
He continued his fine form after the interval by scoring within the first five minutes of the restart.
Godoy Cruz was in cruise control for the remainder of the match, but that did not prevent Castellani from adding a third as his 89th-minute strike solidified the win and brought the club, on nine points through four games, to first place on goal difference.
Also on Monday, Tigre was held to a 0-0 home draw by Argentinos Juniors while Belgrano overturned a two-goal deficit to get a point from a 2-2 draw at Gimnasia La Plata.
Newell's Old Boys managed to get its first win of the season on Sunday, sticking four goals past Atletico Rafaela in a 4-1 victory.
