Man jailed on charge of pointing gun at an occupied car

February 24, 2014

A 61-year-old Boise man, accused of pointed a handgun at a driver in southeast Boise, faces a felony charge of aggravated assault.

John Arthur Lee Jr. was booked into the Ada County Jail on Saturday evening after a man reported that as he slowed for a red light at the intersection of South Gekeler Lane and East Boise Avenue, a man standing on the sidewalk pulled a gun from his pocket and pointed it at the man.

The driver, who had his wife and son in the car, told police he feared for his family’s safety and quickly drove away. When he was far enough away to feel safe, he called 911 on his cell phone about 5:15 p.m.

Boise police officers spotted a man walking west along Boise Avenue who matched the description given by the driver. The man, identified as Lee, had a pellet gun with him and two small folding knives.

Lee remained in the county jail Monday evening.
