Letter: Mountain lion photo

February 24, 2014

I was appalled by the repeated images of the mountain lion that was killed in Boise on Friday, Feb. 7. I understand the lion presented a danger; however, was it necessary to show the lion dead on a table with the camera inches from its face?

I wonder how many children saw that image over and over. I doubt I was the only adult upset by that image.

The mountain lion was trying to survive. It was just doing what its instincts were guiding it to do. Do we need to make a “news event” by showing it over and over? Is it for ratings, or is it that the public enjoys these images?
