Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State swimming and diving moves into first place

SAN ANTONIO - The Broncos lead after the second day of the Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships with 276.5 points through eight events. San Diego State is second with 239.5 points. Boise State sophomore Taylor Padington placed second in the 500-yard freestyle 'A' final (4:47.33, a school record), and freshman Brittany Aoyama took third place in the 50-yard freestyle 'A' final (22.54). The meet runs through Saturday.

BSU SOFTBALL: The Broncos notched a 10-2 run-rule victory over Oregon State in their first game at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. The Broncos (5-7) dropped their second game to defending national champion Oklahoma 9-1 in five innings.

MOUNTAIN WEST WOMEN'S SOCCER: Colorado College will join the conference as an affiliate member this fall.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO SKIING: Ellie Tansley finished 15th to lead the team to a fourth-place finish in the giant slalom on the first day of the WSCSA Western Regionals at Brundage Mountain.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE MEN'S BASKETBALL: Western Washington defeated the Crusaders 84-72 in Bellingham, Wash. Kevin Rima had a game-high 27 points for NNU (5-18, 3-12 GNAC).

NNU SOFTBALL: The Crusaders lost to British Columbia 6-3 in their home debut, and later lost to Great Falls 11-3 in six innings on the first day of The College of Idaho/Northwest Nazarene Classic in Nampa.
