Explore the beauty and creativity inspired by the natural elements at three upcoming Treasure Valley shows:

• At the Boise Hotel and Convention Center, members of the area's woodworking community will show their best at the Idaho Artistry in Wood Show. You'll see hundreds of examples of handmade furniture, sculpture and gourd art.

• Over at Expo Idaho, you can mine the beauties at the Idaho Gem Club's "Gem and Mineral Show" for everything from ancient fossils and fluorescent stones to one-of-a-kind jewelry. You also can watch the artisans at work on cutting, polishing and silversmithing.

• Rock hounds can get another dose of shiny stones at the Owyhee Gem and Mineral Society's show next weekend. You'll find displays, demonstrations, grab bags, a sand dig, door prizes and more.
