Idaho corporate income taxes were 8.8 percent more than expected in December, analysts from the Division of Financial Management say.

“Interestingly, this surplus was solely due to low refunds,” which totaled $2.2 million, not $4.9 million as projected, they say.

But the surge was reversed in January, when corporate collections came in $7.7 million below projections. Overall January revenue was 8.7 percent below the forecast — bad news for legislative budget writers.
