Man arrested after shots fired in Boise neighborhood

Chase Allen Kent Lagers, 19, of Garden City was charged with aggravated assault and firing at an occupied dwelling, following an incident in a west Boise neighborhood Saturday morning.

Neighbors called the Boise Police Department at 8:05 a.m. to report that someone shot a rifle twice in the air outside a residence in the 13300 block of North Fernleaf Street, off East Locust and North Eagle roads. They reported seeing two men outside the home.

The witnesses told officers the two men left in a blue Volkswagen Passat. Patrol officers spotted a car matching the suspect vehicle a short time later driving on North Cloverdale Road.

Because the men were reported to have a weapon, officers drew their guns as they approached the car after pulling the vehicle over.

Police closed off Cloverdale north of Fairview Avenue to traffic for a time, until the suspects were taken into custody and they could ensure the safety of passing motorists, according to a release from the Boise Police Department.

Police learned that the suspects were involved in a dispute with three people they knew who were inside the house on Fernleaf Street. Investigators reported that it appeared the two shots were fired into the air as the suspects stood in the front yard.

Neighbors told police they feared for their safety after hearing the shots.

No one was hit or injured, police said.

Police said they had responded several times to the house in recent weeks for ongoing disturbances.

The second suspect was not publicly identified and police did not say whether that man could face charges.
