U.S. Ecology, a hazardous and industrial waste disposal company based in Boise, this week reported $9.2 million in net income for the fourth quarter, which ended Dec. 31.

The company also had a record year for operating income, at $52.9 million.

For the quarter, U.S. Ecology made a gross profit of $23.1 million, up 26 percent from $18.3 million in the fourth quarter of 2012.

"Continued treatment and disposal revenue growth reflected another quarter of strong private event business, which more than offset expected softness in our government business," said Eric Gerratt, executive vice president and chief financial officer, in a news release.
