World Center for Birds of Prey plans family day Feb. 15

The Peregrine Fund’s World Center for Birds of Prey Family Field Trip Saturday, which focuses on activities and educational programs about conservation of birds of prey, is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the center, 5668 W. Flying Hawk Lane in Boise.

Visitors will see live bird demonstrations, tour the Archives of Falconry, participate in family-friendly crafts and activities and go outdoors on the scenic interpretive trail. Regular admission price will be reduced to $5 adults, $4 seniors, and $3 youth ages 4-16 ($2 off the regular price). For details call 362-8687.

Women’s Snowshoe Walk at Bogus Basin Feb. 23

Registration is open for the snowshoe outing conducted by the Boise National Forest and Idaho Master Naturalists. The walk begins at 10 a.m. at the the Frontier Point Lodge (Bogus Basin Nordic Center). The outing will last about 3 to 4 hours on moderately steep terrain (approximately 2 to 3 miles round-trip).

All levels are welcome and groups will be formed based on ability. Participants should register before noon, Feb. 21 by calling the Mountain Home Ranger District at 587-7961. There is a $7 snowshoe trail fee for participants.

Sawtooth Winterfest Feb. 21-23 in Stanley

The fifth annual Winterfest includes events for kids, hockey games, a beach party, ski-bike-run triathlon, avalanche beacon exercise, ice skating and other activities. For details, contact Jennie Stephenson at 774-2265 or fishingjennie@yahoo.com.
