Letter: Rider program

February 3, 2014

I saw in the Jan. 19 paper that two people escaped from the prison facility at Cottonwood. This is where the “rider” program is located, if I’m not mistaken. These two that escaped don’t sound like low-risk, minimum offenders with crimes like first-degree arson, grand theft, destruction of evidence and solicitation to commit perjury. Even though they’ve now been captured, they were running loose and were again a threat to society.

Maybe those in a position to expand the program need to rethink the people who are sent there. The crimes they committed were not victimless.
