Canyon County sheriff: Possible child enticement reported Sunday afternoon

February 2, 2014

Canyon County Sheriff's investigators don't know for sure whether a man who asked a pair of young boys for help in finding his way to Middleton on Sunday intended to abduct them — but they aren't taking any chances. The boys were not harmed in the incident.

Sheriff's investigators were called to the 9000 block of Cherry Lane, near the boys' home just north of the sugar beet factory. The boys told deputies that a stranger in a minivan had asked them to get into his van because he needed them to guide him to Middleton.

The suspect is described as a man in his 40s or 50 with long gray hair and a gray beard. He was wearing round glasses, and the condition of his lower teeth is poor. He was wearing a blue beanie cap and a black jacket.

The suspect was driving an older style blue minivan, similar to a Caravan, with slight damage to the right front quarter panel. He was last seen traveling westbound on Cherry Lane.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, 454-7531.
