When talking about Latin America, one can say Buenos Aires is Argentina, Santiago is Chile, Caracas is Venezuela, etc. Most of the money flows to the capitals. So it seems that the same is happening in the United States. Seven of the richest counties in the U.S. border Washington, D.C.
It seems that this flow of money to Washington will continue to flow unabated. Why not spread some of this largess to other areas of the country? Why couldn’t we relocate most of the departments of the government spread evenly to red and blue states? Maybe keep the Department of State, Defense, Justice in Washington. It would also spread out a lot of “K” Street money to other areas. The only other recommendation is when they relocate the Department of Education, they just wouldn’t be able to find a new location.
