Letter: Rep. Christy Perry

February 2, 2014

Nampa deserves better than Rep. Christy Perry. She is under the misguided belief that she is being politically correct by condoning a group of religious zealots that are letting their children die by not taking them to a doctor for illnesses that are easily curable. These children’s friends that make up the other 95 percent of her constituency and are practicing Baptists, Catholics, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Methodists, Mormons, Muslims, Seventh-day Adventists and all other religions are saying to these sick children, “Man you need to see a doctor,” and these children can only respond, “It’s OK, my parents are praying for me.” This is the most egregious form of child abuse I have ever seen.

If Rep.Perry believes this practice is acceptable and allows it to continue then what a black mark on the rest of Nampa. She needs to grow a spine and do what’s right to protect these children or step aside and let someone else with a conscience address it. Letting innocent children die in the name of religious freedom in this day of modern medicine is absurd. Maybe Rep. Christy Perry should join this group, just don’t get sick.
