Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State wrestlers dominate Northern Colorado

BOISE — The Broncos won seven of 10 matches in a 27-10 victory over Northern Colorado on Friday night at Taco Bell Arena. The match was highlighted by two pins. Heavyweight J.T. Felix pinned Henry Chirino 1 minute into their match, and Chris Castillo (149 pounds) pinned Nick Alspaugh in 2 minute, 6 seconds. Broncos (3-6) also received decisions from Brian Owen (141), Holden Packard (165), Austin Dewey (174), Jake Swartz (184) and Cody Dixon (197).

BSU MEN’S TENNIS: The Broncos opened Mountain West play with a 4-3 win over New Mexico in Albuquerque. Thomas Tenreiro, Garrett Patton and Brendan McClain won in singles for BSU (3-2), which also won the doubles point.

BSU WOMEN’S TENNIS: The Broncos recorded their second straight sweep, beating Weber State 7-0 at the Boas Tennis Center. BSU improved to 3-0.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Concordia hit two free throws with 2 seconds remaining en route to a 79-77 win over the Coyotes in Caldwell. Chakala Carthen recorded 20 points and 16 rebounds for the C of I (10-10, 7-5 Cascade), but her runner in the lane rimmed out as the horn sounded.

C OF I MEN’S BASKETBALL: The No. 10 Coyotes limited No. 21 Concordia to one field goal during the final 7 minutes in an 84-79 win in Caldwell. Taylor Pruett had 24 points and 16 rebounds for the C of I (19-5, 10-2).

NORTHWEST NAZARENE TRACK & FIELD: The Crusaders distance medley relay team of Natalie Evans, Morgan Kilgore, Susanna Fleming and Jordan Rehfeld raced to victory in 12 minutes, 17.11 on the first day of the Ed Jacoby Invite and Combined meet in Nampa.
