Inside freeway lanes to close Tuesday morning for crash repairs

January 31, 2014

The inside left lanes in both directions on Interstate 84 between Cole and Orchard streets will be closed Tuesday morning so Idaho Transportation Department crews can repair the damage caused when an eastbound semi-truck struck a light pole and damaged several concrete barriers as it crossed over to the westbound side early Tuesday.

The crews will replace six 20-foot concrete barriers between 2 a.m. and 10 a.m.

The repair, to be performed by ITD employees, is expected to cost about $12,000. The cost will be paid for by the trucking company's insurance company.

Several people were injured in the crash and were taken to local hospitals. As the truck crossed over to the westbound side, it struck a second semi.
