Ada County Sheriff's detectives are looking for whoever stole 220 bales of hay from a field in Star earlier this month a heist costing the owner nearly $3,000, the sheriff's office reported Thursday afternoon.
Earlier in the week, the owner discovered the bales were missing from a haystack on his property in the 8800 block of State Street. Each bale weighs about 90 pounds so whoever stole them had to spend quite a bit of time on the property and use a truck and trailer to take them away.
Each bale is worth $13, so the total loss is $2,860. The hay is there to feed the cattle on the property. The theft occurred sometime between Jan. 12 and Jan. 26.
