Letter: Youth and media

January 29, 2014

The Idaho Statesman needs to make an effort to reach out to Idaho’s young adults. As a person who is growing up in the midst of the technology era, I am sad to see newspapers dying as a media outlet.

I know my generation is constantly consumed with technology, but personally I see value behind the hand-delivered print over the screen-produced print.

That is why I ask the question why doesn’t the Statesman make more of an effort to reach out towards the younger generation and promote newspapers as a valuable part of our community? Perhaps include more news that interests the younger demographic (e.g., headlining articles about them and events that pique teens’ interest).

If the question is, what exactly does spark interest from teens these days, why not try asking them?
