A 25-year-old Eagle man who prosecutors say was intoxicated during an Oct. 31 crash that left a young woman dead entered a plea of not guilty in Ada County Fourth District Court Monday.

An April 8 jury trial has been set for Andrew Cassell, who is charged with felony vehicular manslaughter in connection with the death of Aldina Ekic. The 21-year-old died at the crash scene on State Street near Glenwood Street.

Ekic, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died from blunt force trauma to the head, according to the Ada County Coroner's Office. Prosecutors say Cassell's blood alcohol content after the crash was 0.125, above Idaho's limit of 0.08.

Cassell is out on $75,000 bond. He is prohibited from drinking or driving, according to the terms of his release. His next appearance in court will be a pretrial hearing set for 9:30 a.m. March 17.
