Car crashes through I-84 median, strikes vehicle in oncoming traffic; two taken to hospital

January 28, 2014

A crash on Interstate 84 in Caldwell Monday night sent two people to West Valley Medical Center, according to Idaho State Police.

Augustin Olvera, 27, and Glenda Hansen, 66, of Parma, were identified as the two drivers injured in the crash. Hansen was wearing a seat belt, Olvera wasn't, police said.

Police say Olvera was eastbound on the interstate in a 2002 Chevrolet Impala. His vehicle went into the median and crossed into oncoming traffic, striking a 1987 Nissan Stanza driven by Hansen.

The vehicles came to rest on the right shoulder of the westbound lanes of I-84.

Idaho State Police is investigating the cause of the crash.
