Several people taken to hospital after crash that shut down I-84 in Boise early Tuesday

A vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 84 crashed into a light pole and crossed over to the west side of the highway, causing another crash involving a semi truck, according to Idaho State Police Dispatch. The crash, near Orchard Street, was reported at about 2:38 a.m. Tuesday.

Several people were transported to the hospital. No information was immediately available on the severity of their injuries.

Idaho State Police shut down travel in both directions on the highway as they investigated the accident and cleared the debris, including the light pole in the eastbound lanes and a large diesel spill in the westbound lanes.

Eastbound lanes were re-opened by 4:10 a.m.; westbound lanes were re-opened by 5:34 a.m.
