Caldwell police nab two in marijuana, methamphetamine bust

Caldwell police officers became suspicious when they heard loud music coming from a car driving behind an apartment complex in the 2000 block of College Avenue a few minutes after midnight on Tuesday.

The driver, Vincent R. Soto, 20, of Caldwell, was initially arrested for driving on a suspended driver's license.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, police seized 2.5 pounds of marijuana and 15.4 grams of methamphetamine. They also confiscated a digital scale and an undisclosed amount of cash found on Soto, according to a report from the Caldwell Police Department.

Soto was charged with trafficking of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. He is being held at the Canyon County Jail in Caldwell in lieu of $500,000 bond.

Passenger Reynaldo J. Leal, 22, of Caldwell, was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
