A man driving north on Bogus Basin Road was killed Saturday morning after he lost control of his car and slid 100 feet down an embankment near Milepost 4 and struck a tree at 8:30 a.m., the Ada County Sheriff's Office reported.

Rescue workers from the Boise Fire Department hiked down to the car and found the driver dead inside the vehicle. A tentative identification has been made, but deputies did not publicly identify the man pending notification of next of kin.

Emergency crews are expected to be at the site for a while. Please use caution if you're traveling up or down the hill.
