Letter: Thanks

January 18, 2014

I am writing to thank the individual who helped rescue my dogs on Dec. 11, 2013. My wife and I were walking our dogs in Optimist Park on Hill Road Parkway. My older dog chased some geese into the pond and could not get back up on the ice. My wife dropped everything and went to pull him out of the water. She was successful, but she slipped, the ice cracked and she went into the water. I dropped everything and went to help her. My wife managed to get out of the water, but our puppy followed us into the pond.

A gentleman stopped his car and brought us a metal crutch. We were able to fish our puppy out using the end of the crutch. He then gave me and our puppy a ride back to our car. We want to express our sincerest thanks to the man who took the time to stop and help us and our dogs. Sorry this thank you is long overdue! Hopefully we will get the opportunity to pay his kindness forward.
